This Swedish usage was deduced from a student drinking song which emerged in the viking era. It is believed to have originated with students at Uppsala. A few of the relevant verses are translated:
Say it with an arrr!
Steal his notebook in the bar...
Harharhar...amanuens!
Conk him with your oar
When his lectures are a bore...
Poorpoorpoor...amanuens!
They do denote roughness with a TA.
